The story of the Titanic, which has long since surpassed the boundaries of history and assumed the contours of legend and metaphor, has become a highly visible contemporary subject, not to mention a hot commercial property.
The recent discovery of the great ship's wreckage, followed by an exhaustive attempt to salvage part of its hull, has stimulated a flurry of projects dedicated to memorializing (and capitalizing on) the disastrous history of "the ship that couldn't be sunk" but was, in April 1912.

The genius of Psalm at Journey's End is in its individual characterizations and its superbly chosen details. If the larger harmony evidently sought by its author remains elusive, the several melodies of which this appealing novel is composed are uniformly seductive and fall pleasingly on the ear.
