...ng village. One year the temples in Trichur were denied the right to participate in this festival by another temple that was still controlled by the Brahman hegemony. In retaliation Prince Sakthan organized the festival in Trichur, in conjunction with the Paramenkkavu and Thiruvambadi temples, dedicated to Devi and Krishna, respectively. This was the actual beginning of Trichur Pooram. --J.S.
