Iwill start with a disclaimer. It is my view that President Clinton should have resigned months ago. Clinton's transgression may not be an impeachable offense; his behavior is unacceptably offensive, nonetheless. His tryst was both reckless and selfish.vbcrlf        His unconscionable behavior and the deceit that followed have diminished the presidency. He has shamed himself and embarrassed the nation. ...      Still, Clinton is not the first president whose personal indiscretions have interfered with his job performance. Short of impeachment (which seems too harsh a remedy), there is not much we can do about it. To paraphrase Chicago Tribune columnist Mike Royko: We all make mistakes, and we have to learn to live with them. Collectively, Clinton is our mistake. vbcrlf
