A true education revolution is occurring throughout the United States. Efforts are taking place in communities, cities, and states nationwide that are upgrading schools and empowering the people.
Americans have been plagued with an education system that for years has failed to educate well even its top-performing youngsters. Only 25 percent of 4th graders are reading at or above grade level; by the 12th grade, even after many students have dropped out of the system, the figure increases to only 37 percent. In math, only 25 percent of students tested in the 4th, 8th, and 12th grades are working at a proficient level.

Michigan's first charter school is a home-school network that will provide computer-instructed materials for the homes, and teacher aides will work with each child, who will complete lessons via distance learning. The Noah Webster Academy, as it is called, is projected to have 200-500 students "on-line" by next year.
