Broadcast technology has been around for decades. The difference today is being able to respond to and interact with what is sent to us. The nearly ubiquitous reach of two-way communications affects the individual on both micro and macro levels.

Today, all forms of communications, whether voice, data, or video, can be transmitted as numerals (zeros and ones) over two-way digital networks, allowing users to respond with relative ease. But is this fundamentally different from opening a letter or answering the phone? The digitized world has affected us individually, economically, and politically.
