I have the dubious distinction of being diagnosed as schizoaffective with a paranoid disorder and sometimes delusional. That's really not so bad ... until you have to go to group therapy. Then things start turning weird. You get people jumping up and yelling, "Hey! You! You are interrupting my fantasy!" Only the skillful expertise of the psychologists in charge keeps fists from flying, because everybody in the group is interrupting somebody else's fantasy.
My fantasy is angels.
Somebody, my grandmother I think, once told me you ought to be careful who you turn away from your door, because you might be entertaining an angel. They showed me that truth isn't something that can be drilled and pounded into somebody's head; it's more like a quiet book softly unfolding page after velvet page. They showed me that truth isn't an in-your-face tirade of invented profundities; it's an awestruck sigh, full of wonder, sighing, "Oh!" Truth is the cool, gentle breeze of a whispering angel.
