"I see my work coming out of painting," says Jos?Chardiet. "I am basically creating still lifes. It's not literal--everything I do is abstract to a certain point," explains the highly innovative glass artist, who is currently teaching at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

Such collectors' interest should peak this year, with major Chardiet exhibitions appearing at Leo Kaplan Modern and SOFA New York in May and a solo show at Marx Saunders gallery in Chicago in November.
