"I see my work coming out of painting," says Jos?Chardiet. "I am basically creating still lifes. It's not literal--everything I do is abstract to a certain point," explains the highly innovative glass artist, who is currently teaching at the University of Illinois at Champaign-Urbana.

... collectors. "Much of my work goes for display purposes, but secondarily there are networks of glass collectors around the country who buy and sell my art, sometimes through auctions," he says. Such collectors' interest should peak this year, with major Chardiet exhibitions appearing at Leo Kaplan Modern and SOFA New York in May and a solo show at Marx Saunders gallery in Chicago in November.
