"My work is about expressing the imagery and energy of the natural world through wood," says Washington State artist Michael Peterson. "Organic forms, the landscape, and the Northwest spirit serve as my foundation."
Born in Texas in 1952, Peterson lived in many places while growing up, as his father was in the Air Force. In 1975, near the end of his own stint as a medic in the Navy, he met a wood craftsman and joined his business after being discharged that year. Moving to the Pacific Northwest, where his wife came from, he harvested wood for the firm.
