Earl Swensson sounds more like a man on a mission than an architect on assignment. The founder of Earl Swensson Associates (ESa) of Nashville, Tennessee, speaks decisively about his love for his city and craft, gesturing with his hands in a style that recalls his talent with a sketch pen and watercolor brush. Yet although he has accomplished some five thousand projects in thirty-eight states and several foreign countries since starting ESa, his major contribution has been to give Nashville its fantastic "now" look.
